Document Quality Checklist

Good documentation is essential for your employees to be able to do their jobs efficiently and well. Information that is hard to find, hard to understand or is out of date can cause errors, confusion and increased risk.

This document quality checklist is your handy partner in ensuring that your documents are clear and reader-focused. Download a pdf and use it to check whether your existing documentation is in need of improvement to optimise successful outcomes.

Is Information Mapping Still Relevant?

This 2016 article was published in Southern Communicator, the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Technical Communication. The author, Elizabeth Abbott, has had a long association with the Australian Society for Technical Communication (ASTC) regularly attending and sponsoring (even chairing one) their annual conferences. She is the Managing Director of TechWriter.

The article introduces the Information Mapping (IM) methodology which underpins TechWriter’s approach. IM is about the creation of clear and concise written communication that is easy for readers to use and quick for writers to produce.
